Blue and Yellow

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color combination blue, white and yellow. So much so that my entire kitchen is decorated in that scheme. Cobalt blue glass and white daisies with yellow centers. So when I saw the challenge over at Design Dollies used this color combo, I got super duper excited. Then when I sailed over to Off the Wall Craftiness and saw they were using that palette too...I dropped everything and hit the scrappy table. Usually I have no problem combining several challenges into one card, but I love these colors so much I made two cards with them. One for each. :) So since the Design Dollies challenge is in my favorites list first, I'll enter the first card there and the second in Off The Wall's challenge :) :) :) :)

Birthday cake card

I was working on a birthday card that featured a cake. I decided to paper piece the cake out of coordinating shades of purple and emboss each layer with a different folder for contrast. The 'icing' seperators are cut out of a third shade of purple with my Fiskars 'sunflower' deco edge scissors. The sticker, ribbon and patterned paper were all from the Target Dollar Spot in a birthday kit I picked up ages ago. It was most certainly a neglected piece of my stash. The stamp set however is brand spankin new. It's was clearanced out at JoAnns for 99cents and came with an entire sheet of birthday images and sentiments!!!!!! WHOO HOO!

I ♥ sketches!!

One of my favorite sketch blogs is the fabulous Liz Qualman. I have used her sketches several times before and it has led to some of my favorite layouts. Here is yet another of her brilliant pieces of inspiration HERE. I created the following layout based on her sketch:

I'm ALIVE!!!

I bet you were all starting to wonder. ;) My back is definitely improving with this physical therapy and chiropratic treatments, but sitting at the scrappy table for long is still just a little too much. So I haven't gotten much done lately. I did manage a few 8x8 layouts for friends.

For the 'people I love' layouts I decided on a best friends theme. I was really wanting to create something in a pink/purple scheme and best girlie friends fit well I think. The flowers are all prima-style flowers by Recollections and the lettering is the same Cuttlekids set from above. I also stamped the letters, "b-e-s-t" and cut the letter into a rectangle strip. The swirls are a small sizzix die that I cut 2 off and placed under each side of the flower. I used both swiss dots and divine swirls Cuttlebug folders. The word 'friends' is cut from pink sugardust paper.
The last 8x8 I finished is this boy's baseball themed one. Once again the lettering is my Cuttlekids alpha set I can't seem to find the name for. The stamped images (varsity flag, blue oval, baseball) are from a swap I was in ages ago. The baseball paper is from Michael's and i used a coordinating grungy baseball paper for the top layer of the 'M-V-P'. I hope the people who get them can find a home for them in their own 8x8 albums. :)

Happy 4th of July!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July for those of you stateside. And for those of you overseas.....I hope you had a wonderul weekend! :)

This week at Scrap It With a Song, our challenge was quite patriotic. Though there were plenty of ways to look past the red, white and blue and go in a whole different direction with it. Our DT hit a homerun with it and gave you lots of ideas to start off. The song is America the Beautiful and I used the line Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies to scrapbook pictures of fireworks last year lighting up the beautiful night sky.

I'm so behind!!!

I've made no secret about how frustrating this back injury has been. Beyond just hurting like heck nonstop, it's really getting me down to not be able to do the things I know I should be able to do. I can't sit at the scrapbook table, pick up my kids, drive, do the dishes....okay that last one I could do without LOL. I was able to sit down tonight and get a few cards done....yay. Before I share them, I wanted to catch up the last 2 weeks of challenges at Scrap It With a Song. First up was the song 'Riding Solo' by Jason Derulo.

Next was the song 'I Can See Clearly Now'.
