Relax in the SHADE!!!

Our fearless leader gave the DT a big ol' challenge this week....SUNGLASSES!  We could choose to work with bright colors that make us wanna pull out our shades or we could use sunglasses on our project even.  I chose to go quite literal and incorporate actual sunglasses.  My youngest has quite the collection of sunglasses (yes I know she's only 2, but if I get to have 16 pairs of flip flops, I won't begrudge her 6 pairs of shades LOL) and needed somewhere to store them.

I used a Maya Road tin that came filled with chipboard that's long been used up as the base.  Add a little Helmar 450 and 'Surf Shop' by Reminisce paper/embellishment line (plus a few things from my stash) and voila.....  sunglasses bin!!!  Click on over to Tanya's blog to see what the rest of the Paper Hoarders have in store to brighten your day.  :)

Love Them!

Oh how I ADORE this picture of my kiddos.  The photographer tried to get Allie to sit on the bigger two's back, but she insisted on getting down on her belly like the others, then once down there she totally was all, "I will NOT conform....RAWR".  HAHAHA.  Gotta love her!!  I grew up an only child and the one thing I feel like I missed out on most is the built in friendship you get from someone you see from across the hall day in and day out.  My kids can of course be rotten to each other, but they amaze me with just how much they love each other and genuinely CHOOSE to be best friends...even with 4-5 years between each of them.  

That theme of friendship was chosen over at Once Upon a Sketch this week and it's also their sketch I followed.  I also played along with the ScrapFIT Warm-Up #29 when making this and made my title a long sentence or question.  Boy was THAT harder than I thought.  :)

The paper is all from a Tim Holtz stack (LOVE HIM!!!!) and the blue letters are some of his grungeboard alphas died with his broken china distress ink.  The little alpha stickers are October Afternoon. The bling is from Recollections and the flowers are all Recollections as well.  The big blue blingy dot is a sparklet by KaiserCraft and the stick pin poking out from the cluster is one I made.  It's kinda my new favorite obsession.  :) :)

Zoom!

So, I won't lie... the sketch posted over at Stuck?! Sketches was probably the most intimidating I've ever tried.  The circles?  The 'white space'?  The splatters?!?!?!?!?!  I'm about 99.9% sure I'll never be artsy enough to pull that kind of creation off, but I'm giving it an A for effort at least.  :)  ...and if all else fails I really REALLY enjoyed getting all messy with the paint splattering :)

Sweet Baby Lily

Time for another installment of Paper Hoarders DT creations.  This week was all about stitching.  As you can see (maybe), I stitched a circle element.  The paper line is by Simple Stories and I picked it because it's not too girly.  Baby Lily's mama isn't a big fan of pink, so I tried to keep the pink to just accents.  :) :)  This may just be my favorite layout I've ever made....then again, it may just be the super cute baby girl that's swayed me.  :) :)

Goodnight Allie

A few weeks ago my almost 2 1/2yr old figured out how to climb out of her crib.  Not a big deal, except that she's not particularly good at it and nearly cracks her head open every time.  I guess I should count myself lucky that we made it this far because neither of my older two made it past 18months before they figured it out.  We bought her a new toddler bed and as excited as she was to go to bed in it each night, within an hour we found her passed out across the room in her sister's bed.  ♥

I was inspired to scrap these by the challenge over at Child's Play Challenges this week.  The source of inspiration for the challenge is the book Goodnight Moon.  That's a favorite in this house and a go-to bed time ritual.

Party

This week is Color Throwdown's 200th challenge.  Time to party and boy do they have a lot of festivities.  Just check out each DT members blog for a chance to win goodies and play along with the color challenge.  You need to use pink, brown, orange, turquoise, and light green.  For some reason when I tried to brighten my photo in picasa because I had terrible lighting when I took the pic it made the pink look a little too purply, but it's actually the pink.  :)  I had so much fun putting together papers in these colors so hop on over and play along with the fun too!!!  :)

Let Freedom Ring

Independence Day must still be in the air, because everywhere you turn on blogdom there seems to be a challenge running using red, white and blue as their theme.  I'm sure I could dig around and find more that this fits, but I'm going to stick with sharing with the places I saw before I sat down to create this:  All Sorts and Raise the Bar.  Both of them are using 4th of July color schemes as part of their challenges.  

As for the sketch I followed it is the new one just posted over at Frosted Designs.  I try not to play favorites,  but this is a really awesome sketch and I am most definitely going to have to use it again.  I'm a sucker for circles in my layouts and this paper just screamed out 'fussy cutting' to get the ring elements.  All of the paper is from Bo-Bunny's Liberty line.  The embellishments are just some left overs in my stash.  The glitter letters are Thickers and the smaller letters are Cosmo Cricket.
